SASPO STANDARD SHOW SCHEDULE
The various codes contained in this show schedule form part of a computer programme used
by SASPO to organise and run poutry shows more effectively. It is very important that all the
information furnished on the entry form should be correct in all respects. The nature of the
programme is as such, that mistakes cannot be corrected after the programme has been put
into operation. All birds not being entered correctly will therefore be disqaulified.
POULTRY BREEDS
The show schedule contains lists of all the different types of poultry that possibly exist in
South Africa. Each breed has it own distinctive code number and the various breeds are
numbered as follows:
Large breeds 101 – 219
Bantam breeds 301 – 419
Duck breeds 501 – 528
Geese breeds 601 – 617
Turkey breeds 701 – 710
Eggs 801 – 806
Dressed poultry 901 – 904
COLOUR CHART
On the pages marked “COLOUR CHART” are lists of all the poultry colours that possibly
exist in South Africa and each has a code number which applies to both large breeds, bantam
breeds and eggs. The colours applicable to the various breeds are fully described in the SA
Book of Standars and are the only colours recognized which shoul be used when entering
birds or eggs.
The colour codes for both the large OEG and bantam OEG are separately listed and
could be found at he end of the colour chart.
CLASSIFICATION
On the page marked “CLSSIFICATION” is a list of sexes of birds and this applies to all the
poultry breeds.
When compiling your entry form the relevant breed code and description, colour code and
description, sex code and description in respect of each bird should be entered. Also bear
the following in mind:
• Only this show schedule should be used when entering your birds, destroy all previous
show schedules to prevent any confusion.
• Double check that all information furnished on the entry form is correct.
• Always use the official entry form supplied by your club, make additional copies if
necessary.
• Each line on the entry form represents one entry only.
• Keep the entry form neat and tidy by completing it in printing letters.
