The Aardvark Burrow Lodge is the 4-star accommodation for the Aardvark Nature Reserve. It can accommodate 10 people in 5 spacious and well-appointed double rooms (all en suite). Traditional meals are provided. The lodge offers a diversity of activities to clients:
- Several self-guided walking trails
- Guided nature drives
- Guided nature walks
- Guided horse safaris
- Self-guided mountain bike routes
- Theme Tours (e.g. Aardvark Tour, Tracking Tour, Botanical Tour)
The Nature College, an accredited provider for Nature Training, is based on the reserve, and supplies well-trained guides to conduct nature excursions.
The Aardvark Nature Reserve consists of 3400ha of pristine Succulent Little Karoo. This is a desert biome, with low winter rainfall. Vegetation is mainly scrubveld with a stunning diversity of plant life, consisting of a large variety of succulents and other veld flowers. Even though it appears sparsely populated, it is alive with smaller creatures, ranging from rodents to mongooses, dassies, porcupines, honey badgers, Cape fox, caracal and the ever-present aardwolf and aardvark. Antelope species are represented by gemsbok, red hartebeest, kudu, springbok, duiker and steenbok. No less that 187 bird species have been recorded.
